In 2005, a rebellious and sporadically employed Israeli man flew to New York to give up a kidney to save an American businessman. For that, he says he was paid $20,000, which appeared in a brown envelope on his hospital bed after the operation.

- My husband to be was diagnosed with end stage kidney failure. He had been on dialysis a year. We were both 23! I was very scared of how much time we had left together. Fifteen years later, and two transplants (the second being mine), we are happy and appreciate every moment together.

- Stu - do you know of a chatline for recipients/donors. I know I was extremely scared of my surgery and I had questions that no one seemed to know how to answer - I would LOVE to help people out to make their decision. . . just a thought.

- Thank you. This is his second transplant. On dialysis for NINE years. He was a very difficult person to match and his creatine (?) is 2.4 - 6 weeks later. His doctor is happy and said he hopes for a lower creatine as the body adjusts but we're kind of worry its taking so long.

- Stu103 I was in a paired donation 8 weeks ago. My husband is stable - still working through the medicaiton.
